The Municipality of Oss, located in North Brabant, is a dynamic community of over 92,000 residents. Known for its welcoming population and rich history, Oss offers an attractive living environment for people of all ages. With a thriving local economy and a growing population, the municipality places a strong emphasis on digital services. In 2024, Oss launched a fully redesigned website, attracting an average of 500,000 monthly visits and earning multiple awards for usability and accessibility.
The goal was clear: create a modern, accessible online environment that meets the needs of all citizens — from young families and seniors to entrepreneurs and community organizations. Information needed to be easy to find, fully available online, and usable regardless of digital skills or potential limitations.
A modern, intuitive website built with XperienCentral
The redesigned website was built on XperienCentral, a CMS offering flexibility and integration capabilities. Leveraging the latest UX and UI design principles, the site is now modern, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Clear menus and a structured layout simplify navigation, while the enhanced search functionality with filters and tags helps users quickly find the information they need. The website is fully optimized for all devices, from desktops to smartphones and tablets, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience everywhere.
Accessibility at the core
Accessibility was a central focus of the redesign. High contrast ensures text is readable even for users with visual impairments. The site is fully compatible with screen readers, allowing visually impaired visitors to listen to and navigate all content. Images and interactive elements include alternative texts and descriptions, ensuring every user can understand the content. The website can also be fully navigated via keyboard, with helpful skiplinks to quickly reach desired sections.
