Timing: The power of personalization in recruitment

Timing wanted to take the next step in digital recruitment. As a staffing organization helping 25,000 people get to work every day, the company realized that traditional communication no longer delivered: too generic, not relevant enough, and therefore limited in impact. Candidates expected more personal interaction, tailored to their preferences and behavior.

This ambition – to offer every candidate the right job at the right time – was the reason Timing partnered with GX and CDP partner BlueConic to invest in a data-driven, scalable personalization strategy.

From generic to personal

Timing had a rich database of candidate profiles, but it wasn’t being leveraged to its full potential. Important preferences—such as location, industry, or employment type—weren’t reflected in the campaigns. The result: generic emails, low engagement, and missed opportunities.

To make communication truly personal, Timing adopted a new approach: a unified customer view, intelligent segmentation, and data-driven job recommendations.

Three pillars of the new approach

1. A Single Customer View
All data is gathered in a central profile through BlueConic: click behavior, search filters, CRM data, and app interactions. This allows Timing to know exactly which candidates are eligible for which jobs and through which channel.

2. Smart Segmentation
Not every candidate receives the same message. BlueConic automatically segments based on preferences like city, level, and availability. Only those for whom the role is relevant receive recommendations – via email, app, or website.

3. Tailored Job Recommendations with Algorithms
Using recommendation algorithms such as collaborative filtering and recently viewed jobs, each candidate receives a personalized job list. No more generic offers, only smart suggestions with a personal touch.

Results: Fewer emails, greater impact

    higher open rate – 54% of recipients opened the job email, up from 11%

    more applications from personalized job emails
  • 16 %
    click-through rate – links in the emails increased from 1% to 16%

From job emails to omnichannel personalization

After the success of the job emails, the personalization strategy expanded. Timing also connected other channels and systems – the website, app, CRM MySolution, ESP Copernica, and feed manager Channable – to the BlueConic profile.

This makes the application experience more consistent and personal. From greeting to job listing, everything aligns because the data aligns.
